My name is Chloe De Segonzac. I am a dog trainer specializing in teaching puppies, young dogs, and rescues basic skills for the urban environment.
I grew up in France where I worked as a veterinary technician for two years. During that time, I worked with horses, raced my rescued Whippet, adopted three cats, and a lovely Dachshund to my mother’s chagrin. I moved to the United States at 18 and continued working with cats, dogs, birds, rodents, and snakes.
I owned a landscape maintenance company for twenty years while showing dogs in agility, sport, lure coursing, and obedience. In 2000, I sold my gardening business and returned full-time to my first love, working with and caring for animals. I immediately enrolled in a year course taught by Susan Garrett a Canadian dog trainer who competed in the Agility Sport World championships and developed a program for family dogs using games and positive training. I went on to become a member of one of the largest dog training schools in the world, Fenzi Academy. Every year, I take several classes to stay up to date on new techniques and to keep track of trainers all over the world. Basic Skill training, Anxiety in dogs, Relaxation protocol, Cooperative Care: Stress-Free Husbandry, and classes with one of my favorite teachers Leslie McDevitt, MLA, CDBC, CPDT-KA, are among the classes I’ve taken in the last few years.
I now focus on teaching basic skills, for dogs and their people who live in an urban environment. I also love working with fearful young dogs who need a lot of socialization to feel comfortable in the big world.
Although I am the sole trainer, I collaborate with other trainers, veterinarians, dog walkers, and sitters when their specialties are needed.
